Vryheid Coal Mining Project

T&T Marine was approached to assist with the dredging of coal fines and operate plant for the recovery of fine coal.

In order to maximize yield, T&T Marine assisted with the dredging of the fine coal product from pond into existing plant. Virto designed a solution to de-slym the dredged coal fines at 100µm on two Screens. The recovered product was then pumped to 4 x Spirals and then onto 4 de-watered Screens to extract product at an average of 15% moisture with a capacity of up to 20 tonnes/hour of fine coal.

Result: The plant is currently running at a recovery rate of 8-10 tons per hour and consistently produces -16 ash materials at 15% moisture.
